PatternMaker Grading Studio
PatternMaker Grading Studio is a CAD system for the
professional garment maker, designer, or costumer. It includes all of
the features of the Professional Studio (Formerly Home Studio) along with Grading and Digitizing capabilities.
Work is quicker than with other CAD systems because PatternMaker's features
are designed specifically for pattern making. Because the commands are
designed to work the way you work on paper, you won't have to relearn
anything. For instance, to cut a piece, you draw a line to show the path
of the scissors, then select the Cut command.
PatternMaker Grading Studio is based on the same CAD system as the Professional Studio.
You get all the features of that version plus:
Grading
Give PatternMaker a grading rule and it will make a nest of pieces for
you. The grading rule for each point is shown by an arrow at that point,
showing where the point grades to. Put arrows on as many or as few
points as you want to. This is easy to understand, easy to modify,
and works the way professional graders are used to working. After you
input a grading rule, you can save it in a file and apply it to any
other pattern. Making a nest takes seconds--now you can be your own
grading service.
Digitizers
Use a digitizing tablet to "trace" paper patterns into the
computer. Copy your slopers into the computer--a whole drawer of tagboard
slopers will fit on one floppy disk. Trace small-scale patterns from
books or magazines, then use the "Expand" command to make them
full-size.
A digitizing tablet is a tablet-like device with its own mouse. Put
a paper pattern on the digitizing tablet and draw it into the computer
by moving the mouse over the pattern. Common digitizers range in size
from 12" x 12" to 60" x 44", and in price from approximately
$400.00 to $3000.00.
Symbol Libraries
Create standard symbols, save them in a library file, and read them into
your patterns. Make your own symbols to supplement the basic library
that is supplied. You are not limited to sewing symbols--anything that
you can draw can be saved as a symbol. Possibilities: notch marks,
punch marks, company logos, copyright notices, standard collars and
cuffs, and more.
Printing/Plotting Your Patterns
All PatternMaker versions work automatically with any Windows-driven
printing or plotting device. This means you can produce pages up to
48" wide. While Windows itself does not support printing devices
wider than 48", a manufacturer can provide its own printer drivers
for a specific printer or plotter.
